Fairfield scored four runs in the home first, but the Falcons were outscored 7-2 from the fourth inning on in a loss to Garrett Tuesday. The Railroaders out-hit Fairfield 9-7. Kyler Castetter was 2-of-4 at the plate for the Falcons, driving in four runs with a double and a home run. Fairfield is now 2-6, 1-3 Northeast Corner Conference.
Westview 9, West Noble 8
Westview put on a rally for the ages Tuesday evening in Emma. The Warriors trailed 8-2 entering the seventh after committing seven errors against West Noble. Westview loaded the bases and eventually were able to bring home the sixth and seventh run of the frame was Blake Hostetler singles in two runners to get the walk-off conference victory. Elijah Zolman finished the game 3-of-4 at the plate, driving in a run. Owen Weinberg and Hostetler both drove in two runs each while Weinberg threw six innings, allowing one earned run and striking out seven batters. The Warriors are now 2-5, 2-2 NECC.
SOFTBALL
Fairfield 4, Garrett 0
Fairfield’s Madison Jones was solid in the circle to put together a complete-game shutout of Garrett Tuesday afternoon. Jones allowed just three hits and walked three while striking out 18 Railroaders. Jones finished 2-of-3 at the dish, scoring twice. Driving in runs for the Falcons were Preslee Caouette (2), Lilly Yoder (1) and Jenna Fought (1). Fairfield is now 7-2, 2-1 NECC.
Westview 15, West Noble 2 (5 inn.)
Westview earned another runaway victory Tuesday against West Noble. The Warriors put up six runs in the first inning and increased the lead from there. Brynn Bontrager hit three doubles for the Warriors and drove in three runs. Breanna Garrett earned the win on the mound. Westview is now 4-0, 3-0 NECC.
BOYS GOLF
Wawasee 153, Central Noble 165
Wawasee picked up another win Tuesday against Central Noble. The Warriors improved to 3-0 thanks to its scoring team of Preston Scherer (37), Jack Shoemaker (38), Hudson Cripe (39), Cash Walter (39) and Carson Scherer (42).
Westview 154, Fremont 164
Westview earned a conference win at Heron Creek Tuesday against Fremont. The Warriors were led by Brett Springer’s one-under-par 35. Behind him were Luke Haarer (39), Cooper Schwartz (39) and Tyler Brewer (41). Westview is now 3-0, 3-0 NECC.
GIRLS TENNIS
Fairfield 4, West Noble 1
West Noble competed well with Fairfield Tuesday afternoon, but the Falcons picked up the 4-1 victory in the end. Winning for Fairfield was Allie Stahly (2S: 6-3, 6-1), Maylin Maust (3S: 6-1, 7-5), Vienna Griffith and Zuri Buckholz (1D: 6-2, 6-3) and Abby Graber and Breya Buckholz (2D: 6-1, 6-2). Fairfield is now 5-0, 2-0 NECC).
Westview 5, Prairie Heights 0
Westview picked up another conference win with an easy win over county-foe Prairie Heights. Kristen Bender earned the “double donut” win at No. 1 singles while the No. 1 doubles team of Lanita and Miley Mast also won 6-0, 6-0. Westview is now 3-0, 3-0 NECC.
BOYS VOLLEYBALL
Elkhart 3, Northridge 2
Northridge and Elkhart went the distance Tuesday in a five-set thriller at the home of the Lions. Elkhart won the opening set 25-14 before the Raiders won the next two 25-21, 25-14. The hosts won the fourth set 30-28 before Elkhart won the final set 15-10. Jayse Runyan totaled 12 kills while Jose Duron tallied 33 assists. Duron and Rhyan Miller both had three aces. Northridge is now 7-4 this season.
Garrett won the game against Fairfield with a final score of 8-6.
Fairfield scored four runs in the first inning but lost the game, bringing their record to 2-6 overall and 1-3 in the Northeast Corner Conference.
Kyler Castetter from Fairfield was notable, going 2-of-4 at the plate and driving in four runs with a double and a home run.
Westview won the game against West Noble with a close score of 9-8.
