Priority target’s agent denies Barcelona house hunting claim: ‘1000% a lie’
Barcelona’s reported interest in Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez has taken another dramatic turn, with fresh developments cooling down speculation, at least on the surface.
Earlier reports suggested that the Argentine forward could already be preparing for a potential move to Catalonia.
It was claimed that members of his family had travelled to Barcelona to explore housing options, specifically in Castelldefels and the Les Corts area, close to the Spotify Camp Nou.
Naturally, this sparked excitement among fans, especially as Barcelona are actively searching for a long-term attacking solution.
However, the story changed once Fernando Hidalgo stepped in to respond.
The agent moved to dismiss the reports, making it clear that there is no truth behind the rumours linking Alvarez’s family to a visit to Barcelona.
Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, Hidalgo did not hold back in his response, firmly shutting down the speculation.
“1000% a lie,” he stated strongly.

He then provided further clarity, directly addressing the claims about house hunting in the city and explaining the player’s recent movements.
“No one from the family has been in Barcelona. The last time was for the match against Atletico, and they returned to Madrid the following day,” Hidalgo added.
To remove any remaining doubt, he doubled down with a blunt conclusion. “Complete nonsense,” he declared.
Despite this strong denial, the situation remains far from closed.
This is Barcelona’s admiration for Alvarez is well documented, and the club continues to monitor attacking options ahead of the summer transfer window.
More importantly, the player himself has not ruled out a potential exit from Atlético Madrid in the past.
Right now, though, the ball is certainly not in Barcelona’s favour as financial reality keeps them afar.
This means that only a strong push from the Argentine can make this transfer happen.
