The New York Knicks are considering a blockbuster trade to acquire two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, potentially pairing him with Jalen Brunson. In this deal, they would lose Karl Anthony-Towns, aiming to enhance their chances for an NBA Finals appearance.

The New York Knicks just had another successful year, finishing the 2025-26 season with a record of 53-29 and third place in the Eastern Conference. However, if they once again cannot make the NBA Finals, it might be time to finally take drastic measures in the offseason.
Sports Illustratedâs Gray Deyo believes so as well, and proposes that the Knicks should make a blockbuster deal for one of the NBAâs top superstars in Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo.
The trade would look like this:
Knicks get: PF Giannis Antetokounmpo, SG Andre Jackson Jr.
Bucks get: C: Karl-Anthony Towns, PG Miles McBride
âThe Knicks, with where they are as an organization, if all the dominoes were to fall in place in the 2026 playoffs, they could win an NBA championship right now. They have all the pieces that a team would theoretically need to win a title. It seems that is the case. However, another failed title run often leads teams to make changes, and the Knicks would be no exception. So, while the current constructed team of New York with Jalen Brunson, Bridges, Towns, and OG Anunoby is undoubtedly a top-tier team in the NBA, if they go titleless again, that may push the Knicks' front office to look to make a notable deal,â Deyo wrote.
Antetokounmpo finished the season averaging 27.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game. His dominant interior presence would give Jalen Brunson and every other Knick even more looks on the perimeter, overhauling their offense.
It would hurt to lose a talented superstar in Karl Anthony-Towns, but thatâs the price of business. And if thatâs what it takes to get arguably the best player in the league, thatâs what New York needs to do.
