Bill Simmons proposes a trade that could bring Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson back to the Warriors, alongside LeBron James and Stephen Curry. While unlikely, this idea has sparked discussions about a potential superstar reunion in Golden State.

The offseason is the perfect time for some galaxy-brain trade ideas, especially when it's designed to give a group of aging stars one last shot at championship success. Therefore, the Golden State Warriors are perfectly positioned to be the primary talking point of countless mock trade ideas in the coming months, especially if those ideas land Stephen Curry some additional help.
Bill Simmons has already begun sharing some outlandish trade ideas that could potentially reposition Golden State near the top of the Western Conference, if only for a short period of time. In a recent episode of "The Bill Simmons Podcast," the long-time analyst came up with an idea that would bring both Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson back to the Bay Area, while also pairing them with LeBron James.
“As you know, I am all in on LeBron (James) going to Golden State next year," Simmons said. "Can I have Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson join him? Let’s go full Expendables. Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson to Golden State, Butler’s expiring to Houston, we’ll throw Clint Capela and whatever small salaries to make it work to Dallas. Maybe they get a second-round pick. Houston gets something. And Golden State ends up with LeBron, Curry, Durant, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and Al Horford.”
Bill Simmons suggested a trade that would send both Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson back to the Warriors, potentially pairing them with LeBron James.
If successful, the trade could significantly enhance the Warriors' competitiveness, positioning them near the top of the Western Conference for a championship run.
The proposed trade involves Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Al Horford, with Clint Capela and other salaries being moved to facilitate the deal.

Let's be honest, there's almost no chance a series of moves like Simmons is suggesting actually comes to fruition. Nevertheless, the fact that Golden State has a theoretical path to making something like that suggestion happen is enough to keep people talking, and potentially dreaming, of a nostalgic reunion plus superstar team-up.
In truth, we don't know what direction the Warriors' front office is going to take this summer. There are a lot of moving parts that could define how the summer shakes out. However, a series of trades that bring back both Thompson and Durant is unlikely to be a direction the front office takes, especially with how clear it's become that the franchise needs to focus on getting younger.
