Baltimore Ravens unveil new uniforms, including a striking black helmet!
The New York Yankees are considering a trade that would send Jasson Dominguez to the Washington Nationals in exchange for All-Star C.J. Abrams, who is having a breakout season with a 1.024 OPS. This move aims to boost the Yankees' struggling offense after a recent losing streak.
Proposed Yankees trade sees New York finally part ways with Jasson Dominguez, land $4.2 million 1.024 OPS All-Star having breakout season originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
After a hot start to the season, the New York Yankees just ended a nasty cold streak, with a win after losing five in a row. The main reason for their losses was their lifeless offense, that only has a couple hitters actually doing their jobs consistently.
With that in mind, getting another hot hitter right now could help speed up the process of their lineup heating up. Sports Illustrated’s Ryan Shea proposes that the Yankees do that by trading with the Washington Nationals for their All-Star that’s having his first true breakout season in C.J. Abrams.
The trade would look like this:
Yankees get: SS C.J. Abrams
Pirates get: OF Jasson Domínguez, NYY No. 16 prospect RHP Cade Smith
“The New York Yankees would make this trade because it upgrades them at a premium position with a player who brings elite speed, athleticism, and long-term upside. CJ Abrams gives them a true everyday shortstop who can impact the game in multiple ways and fits a win-now roster better than a surplus outfield piece. For a team with championship expectations, consolidating talent into a high-end middle infielder is a major priority,” Shea wrote.
So far this season, Abrams is slashing .327/.406/.618/1.024 with one double, five home runs, 17 RBI, and four stolen bases in 15 games. Take into account he would be a lefty in Yankee Stadium, and those already great numbers could become even better.
Another plus for Abrams is the fact he’s cost-effective. He’s set to make $4.2 million this season, and has two more years of team control after.
Hopefully, the Yankees realize this could be an amazing move, and get right on it. It would take a guy that can’t fit into the starting lineup consistently with someone who’s much better and can fit, making New York’s playoff chances all the better.
