This initially prompted a loan move to Aston Villa in January 2025. Six months later, Rashford joined Barcelona, thus fulfilling a personal dream.
The 28-year-old signed for the Blaugrana on loan with an option to buy for €30 million (£26m) at the end of the season.
The England international enjoyed a stellar start to the season, and has already contributed with 12 goals and 13 assists in 44 appearances across all competitions.
However, Rashford’s solid figures might prove insufficient for him to earn a permanent transfer.

According to the Theatre of Red, Barcelona’s priority for next summer is to address their defensive woes by signing a new centre-back, in addition to recruiting a new centre-forward, especially with Robert Lewandowski seemingly on the outs.
Moreover, the LaLiga champions find themselves in a precarious financial spot, with their accounts put under the microscope. Therefore, the club is ‘80% likely’ to waive the option to buy Rashford.
The Man Utd academy product’s current value is estimated at €40 million (£35m) by Transfermarkt, so purchasing him for £26 million would represent good value for their money. However, Rashford is one of the club’s highest earners, and Barca must reduce their wage bill.
Following Lamine Yamal’s season-ending injury, Rashford is expected to receive additional playing time in the final weeks of the campaign, and perhaps a few spectacular displays could spark a late U-turn.
But in the meantime, Man Utd must prepare themselves to accommodate their attacker in the summer.
With Amorim out of the club, Rashford is no longer an unwelcome figure at Carrington. Therefore, the England international would be allowed to train under Michael Carrick or any other permanent manager who might take over from the 44-year-old.
Nevertheless, Rashford is unlikely to be reintegrated into the club’s plans, even if the management is seeking a new left winger.
As the source explains, INEOS are confident about recouping the transfer fee from elsewhere should Barcelona decide to waive their option, and even negotiate a higher figure with another suitor.
