De Zerbi: Referee Gillett Wasn't Calm During Tottenham's Draw
Liverpool faces a crisis in the right-back position, with £70m England star potentially providing a solution. Jeremie Frimpong's signing has not resolved the issue, and injuries to Conor Bradley have left Arne Slot with limited options.
£70m England star will solve Arne Slot's crisis
Problems have been stacking up for Liverpool all season long in the right-back area.
Jeremie Frimpong was signed to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold last summer but the 25-year-old is no natural full-back.
Conor Bradley meanwhile has suffered another severely injury-hit season - leaving Arne Slot short of cover. Curtis Jones is the latest midfielder to have a go - following experiments with Wataru Endo and Dominik Szoboszlai.
It’s been heavily hinted at that Richard Hughes will seek to cure the Premier League champions’ ills at right-back with a deal in the summer transfer window.
Denzel Dumfries represents a senior option but at 30 it remains to be seen if FSG would be willing to sanction a big-money move.
The more likely outcome is a bid for a younger defender - with contender.

That’s according to Ben Jacobs on the Born N’ Red YouTube channel, with the transfer reporter now expecting Newcastle to list the £70m-rated England defender for sale.
“Liverpool have always had appreciation for Tino Livramento, who is capable of playing right-back and left-back,” Jacobs states.
“He’s a player I expect Newcastle United to put available on the market.”
Tino Livramento is a 23‑year‑old England international full‑back, born in South London, who plays primarily at right‑back for Newcastle United after previous spells at Chelsea’s academy and Southampton.
Newcastle signed him in August 2023 for around £30–32m on a long‑term deal running to June 2028, and he has since broken into the senior England setup.
On the pitch, Livramento is an athletic, offensively‑minded full‑back who carries the ball aggressively, overlaps with energy and offers direct dribbling rather than just safe recycling.
He is comfortable on either flank, delivers low cut‑backs more than high crosses, and defends largely on timing and recovery speed, though concentration in the final third of the pitch can still waver after his serious knee injury.
Given his age, contract length and homegrown status, Newcastle view him as a core piece, with any transfer in the short term likely to require a very high fee from a Champions League‑level club rather than being actively pursued by the Magpies.
