PSG already has a few ideas in mind to strengthen its squad in the coming months. The French capital club particularly appreciates the profile of Aboubacar Maiga.
Head coach Luis Enrique wishes to carry out his project at PSG and has not changed his mind regarding the profiles he wants to see arrive in the capital.
Next summer, Paris will therefore look for young talent on the transfer market. The European champion has already checked off a few names, and Maiga, 16, is one of them.
The Malian gem currently plays at the Africa Football Academy, but is undergoing trials to find his next club in Europe. Moreover, he has just returned from a trial with PSG. Maiga does not intend to deviate from this promising path, as he will soon travel to Spain to take part in a trial with FC Barcelona.
According to Africa Foot, the Catalan club is indeed determined to recruit the attacking midfielder and thus get ahead of PSG.
Maiga's trial will take place after the Africa Cup of Nations U17, which will be held in Morocco from May 13 to June 2, 2026. Barca recently sealed a partnership with the Africa Football Academy, which could help it attract Maiga.
PSG will have to present its strongest arguments to reverse the trend and hope to recruit the young Malian.
In recent years, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain have been more than ever in competition on the transfer market. The Catalan club notably bets on young talents to prepare for the future, while its finances remain fragile.
We will know more about Maiga's future after his trial with Barca next summer. He will, in any case, be spoiled for choice when launching his career in Europe, with two giants interested in his profile.
Both PSG and Barcelona are interested in signing 16-year-old talent Aboubacar Maiga.
