Paris Saint-Germain has reached its greatest period of dominance in Ligue 1 history.
In a true title decider against second-placed Lens, the Champions League finalist won the postponed Matchday 29 game 1-0 this Wednesday (13) and sealed the 2025/2026 French league title.
Kvaratskhelia scored at the rival’s ground, Stade Bollaert-Delelis. And Safonov made at least four huge saves to secure the trophy.
It was their FIFTH CONSECUTIVE Ligue 1 title — surpassing the four straight won between 2012/2013 and 2015/2016.
And their 12th title in 15 editions since the club was bought by Qatar Sports Investments (QSI) in August 2011.
The capital club has failed to win Ligue 1 only three times since then.
It saw Giroud’s Montpellier spring a surprise in the very first season of Qatari investment (2011/2012), was beaten by Mbappé’s Monaco in 2016/17 and then by Lille in 2020/2021.
It now has 14 trophies in total. Four more than Marseille and Saint-Étienne, who are also on 10. Monaco and Nantes (relegated to Ligue 2) have eight. Lyon (seven) and Bordeaux (six) come next.
Lens, which needed to win to go into the final round with a chance, now turns its focus to the French Cup final. It will face Nice on the 22nd.
PSG, meanwhile, can now think solely and exclusively about the UCL final against Arsenal on the 30th.
