Lille pulled off a huge coup last summer by recruiting Nathan Ngoy for only 3 million euros. One year later, the Belgian defender is already targeted by the best European clubs, including PSG.
Ngoy, 22, arrived in complete anonymity at Lille this summer, after a transfer from Standard Liege for only 3 million euros. Recruited by LOSC to be a substitute initially, the Belgian international (2 caps) ultimately established himself faster than expected as an undisputed starter. As a right back initially, and then as the boss of the central defense.
Used 25 times by Bruno Genesio this season, almost always as a starter, the Brussels native impresses. Astonishingly physically, despite an average height (1.83 meters), fast, and especially excellent in distribution, Ngoy has already caught the eye of many top European clubs with a view to next season.
In search of a central defender to replace Marquinhos in the long term, PSG has identified Joel Ordonez and Karim Coulibaly as priorities. Their Plan C could be Ngoy.
A profile targeted by sports advisor Luis Campos and validated by head coach Luis Enrique, according to PSG Inside Actus (h/t Africafoot). The specialized outlet reports that the track to the Lille defender, valued at 20 million euros by Transfermarkt, has been validated at all levels within the Parisian club.
In the past, PSG has proven it is not afraid to bet on Ligue 1 players who still had everything to prove: Bradley Barcola, Desire Doue, and Lucas Chevalier are the latest examples.
Abroad, Paris also did not hesitate to invest in Pacho, Vitinha, and Joao Neves, before these three players became the global stars they are today. Suffice it to say that the Ngoy track seems credible, and Luis Campos is a true fan of his profile.
As of now, according to PSG Inside Actus, the tracks of Coulibaly (Werder Bremen) and Ordonez (Brugge) are priorities. If they prove too complex, Ngoy would then have a real chance of landing at PSG. A stroke of luck for someone who probably did not imagine such a trajectory just a year ago, when he was playing for Standard Liege.
