The Philadelphia 76ers have been eliminated in Round 2 by the New York Knicks, prompting a focus on offseason improvements. Quentin Grimes, an unrestricted free agent, reflects on his solid season and the challenges faced.
PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia 76ers are now moving on to the offseason following their Round 2 sweep by the New York Knicks. The Sixers will now look ahead to the summer to find ways to improve their team and move ahead to the future.
Quentin Grimes will be an unrestricted free agent in the summer. After a long 2025 offseason of restricted free agency, in which he had to settle for the qualifying offer of $8.7 million. He averaged 13.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 3.3 assists while shooting 33.4% from deep during the season. He then averaged 6.7 points and shot 40% from deep in the playoffs.
"I felt like it was a solid season for me to knowing that whenever guys are in and out or were dealing with injuries, whoever was in, I feel like I was able to prove myself every time I step on the court," Grimes said. "If I had more responsibility, if I was on the bench role, to come in to try to make an impact anywhere I can. So, I was kind of just digesting the whole season as a whole right now."
In the aftermath of a tough Round 2 loss, Grimes was focused more on the season itself than free agency. He believes that everything will take care of itself when the time calls for it.
"We had a pretty good season, considering everything we kind of went through as a team, just battling a whole bunch of stuff," Grimes continued. "I haven't really given any thoughts on what's going on after after today. Everything going in the summertime, it'll take care of itself, really."
With that being said, one has to wonder what the 5-year veteran out of Houston will be looking for in the offseason.
"I haven't really thought about that, honestly," he admitted when asked. "Just got done the season as a whole, just talking with my agents and everything, we’ll kind of figure out what's the best situation, what I'm looking for, but honestly, I haven't really thought about that right now."
