One of Kentucky’s intriguing international guard targets is officially off the board. According to the New York Post, Quinn Ellis has committed to St. John’s, ending any potential pursuit by the Wildcats.
Ellis, a 22-year-old guard from Great Britain, had recently emerged as a name to watch for Kentucky following earlier reports from Alberto Marzagalia and Matteo Andreani that the program had entered the mix. The 6-foot-5, 200-pound playmaker is currently competing for Olimpia Milano in both Italy’s top league and the EuroLeague, gaining valuable experience against high-level professional competition.
During the Lega Basket Serie A season, Ellis has averaged 8.1 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game while continuing to develop as a lead guard. His impact has been even more evident on the international stage, where he has posted 17.5 points and 7.0 assists per game for Great Britain in World Cup qualifiers, showcasing his ability to score and facilitate at a high level.
Ellis’ strong play has not gone unnoticed, earning him multiple honors in 2025, including LBA Best Young Player, Italian Cup MVP, and Italian Supercup MVP.
While missing out on Ellis is notable, Kentucky remains active in the transfer market as it looks to rebuild its backcourt. The Wildcats are still involved with several guard targets, including Rob Wright, Zoom Diallo, Terrence Brown, Alex Wilkins, and Jalen Cox.
With multiple options still on the table, Kentucky’s search for its next impact guard continues.
