Rafael Nadal sends message to Carlos Alcaraz following Roland Garros withdrawal

Carlos Alcaraz sent shockwaves through the tennis world with news no one wanted to hear.

Alcaraz’s wrist injury, picked up earlier this month in Barcelona, has turned out to be worse than initially expected. He’s now officially ruled out of this year’s Roland Garros.

It’s a tough blow for the 22-year-old and a big loss for the tournament where he was aiming to defend his back-to-back titles.

Rafael Nadal, who understands better than most what it takes to win at Roland Garros, was quick to offer his support after hearing the news about Alcaraz.

He took to social media to send a supportive message to his fellow Spaniard.

“Hang in there, Carlos!” Nadal started, showing a level of empathy that few others could offer.

Throughout his career, the 22-time Grand Slam champion regularly had to fight through injury concerns that impacted his game. And now, looking at the early days of Alcaraz’s career, he will no doubt be hoping that the same pattern doesn’t emerge again.

Nadal went on: “I hope you have a speedy recovery.”

Nadal added some supportive words: “These difficult moments highlight everything you’re doing. Stay strong and sending you a big hug!”

There was an article this week from the New York Times that outlined how Nadal’s own record was even more impressive considering what’s happened to Alcaraz. But don’t expect him to look at things that way. This isn’t how he wants success to be measured.
