With the Las Vegas Raiders expected to take Indiana QB Fernando Mendoza at number one overall, the mystery in this draft in Las Vegas is what they will do at the top of round two. The Raiders are making sure they do their homework for that spot, hosting several prospects who could be worthy of a selection.
In total, they are allowed 30 prospects to visit the facility ahead of the draft, so they must be selective in pays them a visit. Today was the final day they were allowed to host prospects on visits. And they used their last to host two picks who could be there when they pick at 36 overall.
Both CB Chris Johnson and DT Caleb Banks are considered potential second round picks in next week's draft. According to Dane Brugler of The Athletic, Johnson is a fringe first round pick, while Banks is projected to go on day two, either in the second or third round.
The Raiders have a major need at nose tackle. Banks doesn't really fit that position at over 6-6, but he could add a stout presence in the middle of the line which was missing from the Raiders defense last year.
Cornerback is another potential need for the Raiders, and while there may be other positions more dire to address at 36, if Johnson is the top player on the board regardless of position, he could be worth the pick. That's why you hold the visit, right?
