If anyone on the San Francisco Giants needed a breakout game, then it surely was Heliot Ramos.
Ramos slammed a three-run home run in the second inning, keying a six-outburst as the Giants defeated the Washington Nationals 10-5 on Friday night.
Giants starter Logan Webb evened his season record at 2-2, going six innings, giving up seven hits, four runs (all earned), walked two, and struck out six. Nationals starter Zack Littell gave up eight runs (all earned) and 11 hits in getting the loss.
Well, let's break down that second inning.
Ramos, of course, hit his three-run homer on a 1-2 pitch. Casey Schmitt and Jung Hoo Lee scored ahead of Ramos and San Francisco was up 3-0. With the Giants tacking on three more runs, they built up a 6-0 advantage over Washington.
Leading 6-1 in the fourth, Drew Gilbert hit his first homer this season, a solo blast, and the Giants moved on up to a 7-1 advantage. They tacked on another run in the inning and lead 8-1 entering the bottom of the fourth.
But the Nationals' Daylen Lile smoked a two-run homer, his first home run this season, and Washington inched closer to 8-3.
Schmitt, in the top of the seventh, hit his second homer this season -- another solo blast -- and that gave the Giants a 9-4 advantage. The Nationals, though, didn't go right away. James Wood hit his sixth home run this season, a solo shot, and Washington inched closer to 9-5.
Heliot Ramos hit a three-run home run in the second inning, contributing significantly to the Giants' 10-5 victory.
Logan Webb pitched six innings, allowing seven hits and four earned runs, while striking out six batters.
The final score was San Francisco Giants 10, Washington Nationals 5.

But San Francisco added one more run in the top of the ninth, making it 10-5 and that was game, set, match for the Giants.
With the Friday night victory at Nationals Park, the Giants are now 8-12 this season. San Francisco currently sits in fourth place in the National League West Division. As for the Nationals, they fall to 9-11 and are in third place in the National League East Division.
The Giants hopefully can take something positive out of this big-time victory. Seeing Ramos connect for that three-run homer might just spark him to get going at an even higher level.
That will make Giants manager Tony Vitello and Ramos' teammates smile a bit more, too.
The Giants and Nationals will be playing afternoon games on Saturday and Sunday. For those Giants fans in the Bay Area, you will have breakfast with the team on Sunday morning as that's going to be a 10:35 a.m. PT first pitch.
Once San Francisco finishes up playing Sunday, the Giants will take a cross-country flight and land at Los Angeles International Airport. They'll have a day off on Monday before opening a three-game series at Dodger Stadium against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
No one has to tell baseball fans what a Giants-Dodgers series usually produces. It's filled with drama and a ton of history, too.
