The Los Angeles Rams met with Georgia wide receiver Zachariah Branch ahead of the NFL draft, marking a rare pre-draft visit for the team. Branch is considered a Day 2 prospect known for his speed, clocking in at 4.35 seconds.
Unlike just about every other team in the NFL, the Los Angeles Rams traditionally donāt bring in prospects for official pre-draft visits at their facility. Instead, they meet with prospects at pro days and on campus, which can sometimes give us an indication of who they might be interested in.
We can add Georgia wide receiver Zachariah Branch to the Ramsā list of potential targets after he confirmed to Justin Melo of Sports Illustrated that the Rams traveled to meet with him ahead of the draft.
āI had a workout with the Dallas Cowboys,ā Branch said. āI met with the Falcons after pro day. The New Orleans Saints came up here as well. The New York Giants and Houston Texans were here. The Los Angeles Rams came up here to meet me in person. Like five or six teams came up to Georgia to meet with me in person. So that was pretty cool. Everything's been pretty busy. But, you know, it's always good to be busy, especially during this process, no doubt.ā
An in-person meeting doesnāt confirm the Ramsā interest in Branch, but itās also not nothing. Heās viewed as a Day 2 prospect who has excellent speed (4.35) but primarily caught passes at or around the line of scrimmage.
That doesnāt mean heāll be limited to such routes in the NFL, but it does make him a tougher evaluation. For a team like the Rams that wants to add another playmaker on offense, Branch could be a logical target.
Heād be a good gadget player and versatile weapon for them, having the ability to take jet sweeps and move the chains on screens, while potentially also developing into more of a downfield receiver.
