The Texas Rangers have not had the best start to the 2026 season, but their third baseman is off to a hot start.
Josh Jung managed a .684 OPS in 131 games in 2025, well below his .781 mark during his All-Star season in 2023.
Through 31 games, Jung owns a .916 OPS with four home runs and a .325/.381/.535 slash line. These kinds of numbers may not be sustainable, but they've given him an early edge in All-Star voting, writes Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter.
"It's been four years since Josh Jung started the All-Star Game as a rookie in 2022," Reuter wrote Tuesday. "After three seasons of injuries and inconsistent production, he is batting .325/.381/.535 for a 169 OPS+ in 126 plate appearances, making him the most productive third baseman in the AL by a solid margin."
May has just started, and there are a handful of other third basemen in the American League who could leapfrog Jung.
