The Texas Rangers came into their three-game weekend series against the Seattle Mariners hoping that their luck at T-Mobile Park would change.
That didn't happen on Sunday. The Mariners got to Rangers starting pitcher MacKenzie Gore for five runs in five innings of work to capture a 5-2 victory, winning yet another series at home over Texas.
This marks the sixth consecutive series that the Rangers have lost when traveling to the Pacific Northwest.
Gore took the loss for Texas, seeing his season record even out at 2-2. Besides working five innings and giving up five earned runs, Gore walked one and struck out five. But Gore was burned by the long ball on Sunday, giving up three home runs to Mariners hitters.
In the bottom of the first inning, Rob Refsnyder put the Mariners on the board with a solo homer and Seattle went up 1-0. With one out in the second inning and Mitch Garver on base, J.P. Crawford slammed a two-run homer. That put the Mariners up 3-0 at that point.
Gore gave up his final home run in the bottom of the fifth inning when Randy Arozarena connected for a two-run homer. Julio Rodriguez scored ahead of Arozarena and the Mariners staked themselves to a 5-0 advantage.
Texas scored two runs in the top of the seventh as Josh Jung and picked up RBIs. That, though, was the extent of the Rangers' offense on Sunday.
The final score was 5-2 in favor of the Seattle Mariners.
The Rangers have lost six consecutive series when playing in Seattle.
MacKenzie Gore was the starting pitcher for the Rangers.

With the loss, Texas evens its overall record this season to 11-11. But the Rangers are still in first place in the American League West Division. The Mariners are now 10-13 overall and are in fourth place behind the Rangers in the AL West.
Mariners starter Bryan Woo kept Rangers hitters in check all game long. Woo's outing drew some postgame comments from Rangers manager Skip Schumaker.
“He just kind of beat us in the zone,” Schumaker said. “We had some good at-bats, some hard hits, but just nothing really to show for it. But again, Woo had a low pitch count, [85 pitches through seven innings].
"He was just on the attack, and we couldn’t move the ball forward like we wanted to," Schumaker said, according to Rangers beat reporter Kennedi Landry of MLB.com. "Runners in scoring position this series, we just weren’t great at.”
The Rangers left five runners on base and went 1-for-5 with runners in scoring position.
Schumaker also addressed the fact that Crawford and Arozarena's home runs both came on 0-2 curveballs from Gore.
"Those happen,” Schumaker added. “The 0-2 home runs, which are unfortunate, but I think the walk and then the home run [in the second inning] probably is the one that will eat at him the most. You're going to give up a solo home run here and there. I'm not worried about that. It's the walk in front of the home run that’s frustrating."
Schumaker also made it clear that he was not upset with Gore's outing, believing that his starting pitcher will get things ironed out.
The Rangers will take off Monday, then get back to Globe Life Field for a three-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
