
The Texas Rangers defeated the Seattle Mariners 5-0, recording 15 hits in the process. This victory places the Rangers at 11-9, while the Mariners are now tied with the Astros at 8-13.

The Texas Rangers wanted to come out on Friday night and make a statement in the series opener against the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park in Seattle.
They did that indeed, pounding out 15 hits en route to a 5-0 win over the reeling Mariners. It's early in the 2026 MLB season, of course, but Seattle finds itself now tied with the Houston Astros at 8-13 overall.
What about the Rangers? They are 11-9 and in first place in the American League West Division.
Again, it's early, but Rangers fans have to be pleased with how Texas manager Skip Schumaker is handling the ballclub at this point.
Wyatt Langford went 3-for-5 at the plate with a walk and a run scored. Josh Jung also went 3-for-5, pounding out three doubles and getting an RBI. Corey Seager went 2-for-4 against Mariners pitching, collecting two doubles and scoring two runs.
Josh Naylor ended up being the top performer for Seattle on Friday night, going 2-for-2 at the plate.
Brandon Nimmo led off the game with a solo home run off Seattle starting pitcher Logan Gilbert, putting the Rangers up 1-0 early. It was Nimmo's fourth home run this season.
Seattle had a first-inning threat against Rangers starting pitcher Jacob deGrom. The Mariners loaded the bases with one out, but deGrom struck out and on swinging third strikes.

That probably was the Mariners' best scoring chance all game long. After the first inning, deGrom ended up working four innings. He gave up four hits and no runs while walking two and striking out three.
In the top of the third, Langford's RBI single to left brought Seager home and put Texas up 2-0.
The Rangers added to their lead in the seventh as Jake Burger's single to Seattle center fielder Julio Rodriguez brought home Seager. That put the Rangers up 3-0 at that point. Texas added two more runs in the top of the ninth.
Texas held on for the win.
Rangers reliever Gavin Collyer followed deGrom on the mound, going 1 1/3 innings. He gave up one hit and no runs while walking one and striking out two. Collyer ended up getting the victory, his first decision in the 2026 MLB season.
Tyler Alexander, Jalen Beeks, and Cole Winn followed deGrom, all earning holds on Friday night. Jacob Latz worked a clean ninth inning to give the Rangers a victory.
Gilbert worked 5 1/3 innings for the Mariners, giving up seven hits, two runs (both earned), walked one, and struck out seven. Gilbert took the loss and is now 1-3 on the season.
The Rangers will play the Mariners on Saturday and Sunday, then come back to Globe Life Field. Texas will welcome the Pittsburgh Pirates to Arlington, Texas, for a three-game series starting on Tuesday.
