Appearing on the C4 and Bryan Nehman Show, Eric DeCosta made it clear — the Ravens feel good about where they are coming out of the draft. When asked about the team's outlook heading into the season with this class in place, DeCosta pointed to both fit and versatility across the board:
“Well, Vega's a guy that, you know, we loved everything about him, really, as a player. Physical, big man, passion for the game, very intelligent, athletic. Really like a dancing bear. I mean, this guy can do anything we want him to do in our offense. He fits our scheme really well. Declan Doyle has an offensive scheme. Which is going to be a wide zone running attack. He plays well in space. And we just feel like this guy was really born to be a Raven. Excited about him. Easy pick to make. And yeah, so that's how we felt about him. Added some other guys in offense, too, that we're very, very excited about. Obviously, the two receivers, Ja'kobi Lane and Sarratt, who play locally here at St. Francis. And then the two tight ends as well, Cuevas and Hibner. Hibner's another local guy not too far away from Virginia. All of those guys really kind of— they're a good fit for what we want to be, multiple versatile players who make plays, good blockers, physical point-of-attack players, but can also do a lot for you in space as receivers. Feel really nicely coming out of this process, the draft, adding those guys to the mix gives Declan and the offensive staff a lot of tools to work with.”
It's a theme we've heard all offseason: versatility, physicality, and scheme fit. Now it’s about seeing how quickly that translates on the field.
