Thompson, 28, was a seventh-round pick out of Kansas State in 2022. He spent the first three seasons of his career in Miami before signing with Pittsburgh last year, though he did not appear in a game. In Baltimore, he will vie for the third-string quarterback job behind Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley. Thompson started three games as a rookie due to injuries to Tua Tagovailoa and , including a valiant 34-31 Wild Card loss to the Bills in the playoffs. He is a passable athlete who will not offer much in the run game or as a playmaker behind the line of scrimmage. Of course, he brings veteran experience that the Ravens may find more valuable than developing Pavia or Fagnano. Adding Thompson also gives the team flexibility to release one of those UDFAs while still having enough arms for OTAs.
