NFL news: Steelers announce 2026 schedule release date
Exciting news: Steelers to reveal 2026 schedule on May 14!
The Ravens aim to evaluate their young edge defenders, including Zion, Mike Green, and Trey, before considering veteran additions. General manager Eric DeCosta emphasized the importance of giving these players ample playing time.
The Ravens still have veteran pass-rushing options available if they decide to make another move later this offseason, but Eric DeCosta says Baltimore first wants to see what its younger players can do. During an interview on 105.7 The Fan with Bruce Cunningham and former Ravens and Super Bowl Champion Femi Ayanbadejo, DeCosta discussed the challenge of balancing playing time at outside linebacker while evaluating several young players the organization is excited about.
“We feel really good about Zion, and we feel really good about Mike Green, not to mention Trey. It’s gonna be hard to get him off the field. So it becomes a matter of reps.”
The comments suggest Baltimore wants to give its younger edge rushers every opportunity to earn meaningful roles before adding another veteran to the rotation. DeCosta also explained that the Ravens already rotate heavily at outside linebacker, making it difficult to consistently distribute snaps across the position group.
Special teams value and overall roster flexibility also factor into those decisions, especially when determining game-day active players. While another veteran addition still appears possible later this summer, Baltimore clearly wants to fully evaluate its current group before making that decision.
