Raya Mueller, Carson Squiers voted the Tribune's Athletes of the Week

Gilbert girls soccer player Raya Mueller and Tigers' boys track and field athlete Carson Squiers were voted the Ames Tribune's female and male Athlete of the Week winners for the week of April 26-May 2.

Gilbert girls soccer player Raya Mueller (2) was voted the Ames Tribune's female Athlete of the Week for April 26-May 2.

Mueller was voted female Athlete of the Week with 46% of the vote.

She scored multiple goals in two games for the Class 2A No. 11 Gilbert soccer team during the week.

Mueller netted two goals during the Tigers' 5-0 win over rival Nevada on April 30 at Gilbert. She tallied two more goals and one assist in a 4-0 victory at Mason City on May 1.

Gilbert boys track and field athlete Carson Squiers (front) was voted the Ames Tribune's male Athlete of the Week for April 26-May 2.

Squiers won male Athlete of the Week with 52% of the vote.

He helped the Gilbert track and field team win two relays at the Bengal Relays on April 29 at Gilbert.

Squiers ran the second leg on the Tigers' 4x400 relay team that won in 3:33.38. He anchored Gilbert to victory in the 4x800 with a time of 8:04.20.
