Breece Hall has signed a three-year, $45.75 million extension with the New York Jets. This deal makes him the third-highest paid running back in the NFL.
Turns out, some of that mountain of cash in Florham Park, New Jersey, was ticketed for Breece Hall.
The New York Jets have locked in a key member of their flight crew agreeing to a three-year, $45.75 million extension with Hall. The news was confirmed by USA TODAY Sports' Tyler Dragon. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal is not official.
It keeps the running back with the green-and-white for the foreseeable future and puts an end to the trade rumors that have swirled since last season.
Hall's deal carries an average annual value (AAV) of $15.25 million, which makes him the third-highest paid running back in the league, per OverTheCap. The Jets initially used the franchise tag on the playmaker, which was worth about $14.2 million for the 2026 season.
The new contract is one that benefits both sides. The Jets keep a big piece of their offense as the rebuild continues and Hall gets some security – something that hasn't been common amongst running backs.
New York entertained trade discussions centering on Hall during the 2025 season, but no team was willing to meet the asking price set by general manager Darren Mougey. That includes the Kansas City Chiefs, who wouldn't part with a third-round pick for Hall's services, according to SNY's Connor Hughes.
Instead, Hall remains with the team that drafted him with an eye towards being part of the group that gets Gang Green back to the postseason. The Jets are in the midst of the longest playoff drought in North American men's professional sports, spanning 15 seasons and counting.
Both sides will hope to see that streak come to an end – together. Here's what to know about Hall's new deal with the Jets.

Hall has been a fixture in the Jets offense since being selected by the team in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. The running back has played in 56 games through four seasons, recording 943 touches for 5,040 scrimmage yards and 27 total touchdowns.
His rookie season was cut short by a torn ACL, limiting him to just seven games. However, he has played at least 16 games and recorded at least 1,300 scrimmage yards in each of the three seasons since.
A dual-threat out of the backfield, Hall's productivity hasn't fallen off despite playing for three different offensive coordinators in four seasons. He will have another new play-caller in 2026 after the Jets hired Frank Reich to replace Tanner Engstrand.
