Real Madrid 22-year-old academy graduate expected to leave in the summer
Gonzalo Garcia was one of the breakout stars for Real Madrid at the FIFA Club World Cup last summer. The 22-year-old La Fabrica graduate finished as the joint top-scorer in the tournament with four goals to his name.
It earned him a spot in the first-team squad at the Santiago Bernabeu, along with a contract renewal until the summer of 2030.
However, regular minutes have been hard to come by for the young Spaniard during the course of the current season.
As such, Mario Cortegana of The Athletic reports that Garcia will leave Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.
The Merengues have decided that it will be better for the academy product’s development to go out and play regularly to gain experience.

Therefore, Garcia is now expected to follow the same path as fellow academy talents such as Nico Paz, Jacobo Ramon, and Chema Andres.
It means that Real Madrid are not looking to loan the Spaniard out but instead sell him in the summer, while retaining some degree of control over his future like they have done with the aforementioned players.
So far this season, Garcia has played 33 matches in all competitions, of which only 12 have been starts.
He has six goals to his name during that period, including a hat-trick which came against Real Betis in La Liga in January. He also has two assists to his name.
Given his potential, there is unlikely to be a shortage of interested clubs for Garcia come summer.
