Real Madrid change transfer priority with clear player profile identified – report
Real Madrid are already laying the groundwork for a crucial summer rebuild, with the right-back position now identified as a priority area that needs urgent attention.
According to recent reports from Defensa Central, the club’s technical staff is not entirely satisfied with their current options, despite having experienced names in the squad.
At present, Madrid rely on Dani Carvajal and Trent Alexander-Arnold, but neither profile fully addresses the tactical balance the team is aiming for moving forward.
Carvajal’s situation, in particular, is becoming increasingly uncertain.
With his contract situation unresolved and the possibility of leaving on a free transfer growing stronger, Madrid are preparing for a scenario where they may need to replace him entirely.
This alone has forced the club to accelerate their search in the transfer market.
On the other hand, Alexander-Arnold remains a key part of the project, especially for his attacking qualities.
Real Madrid's technical staff believes the current right-back options do not provide the tactical balance needed for the team's future.
The current right-backs at Real Madrid are Dani Carvajal and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Real Madrid is expected to prioritize acquiring a right-back that aligns better with their tactical requirements during the summer transfer window.

However, internally, there are clear concerns about his defensive reliability, particularly when facing quick and physically strong wingers in high-intensity matches.
This has led to a rethink rather than a direct replacement.
Instead of choosing one profile over the other, Madrid are now aiming to build depth with complementary options.
The plan is to bring in a defensively solid right-back, a profile similar to Ferland Mendy’s, that could allow tactical flexibility depending on the opposition.
However, finding a top-level right-back who excels defensively, is tactically disciplined, and is available at a reasonable price is no easy task in today’s market.
This is why promoting from within has also been considered, but for now, the club do not view their youth options as ready to step into such a demanding role at the highest level.
As a result, the focus remains on the transfer market.
