âI was made a scapegoat. In the first 10â20 minutes, the stadium booed every time I touched the ball.
âThat situation either destroys you, or you think âthatâs just how it isâ; letâs see what I can control, and the only thing I can control is my performance.
âThe level of pressure at Real Madrid is a bit different. People are going to talk about everything you do, whether itâs good or bad,â he added.
The French midfielder went on to highlight how those experiences have shaped his mentality and helped him grow stronger:
âEveryone was talking about me, about my style of play. A year or two ago I was a bad player.
âI was booed at the stadium, so I felt Iâd been through a lot, and it definitely helped me mentally.
âNow I know that no matter what I do, people are going to talk, so I simply donât pay any attention to it.
âPlaying for Real Madrid is the biggest stage in sport: the pressure is a privilege,â he concluded.
