As far as Mourinho is concerned, even though he is happy at Benfica, he is very much open to the idea of returning to the club where he spent three years previously between 2010 and 2013.
Benfica, for their part, are trying to keep hold of Mourinho and plan to convince him by offering a new contract with fresh terms.
Mourinho is not the only manager that Real Madrid have considered. The likes of Jurgen Klopp, Mauricio Pochettino, Massimiliano Allegri and even Didier Deschamps are on the table at the club.
However, so far, there has been no advancement in the interest in any other candidates from the Spanish capital club apart from Mourinho.
The final decision will completely rest with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, who happens to have a strong relationship with Mourinho.
