IPL 2026: ‘Fifth over for a bowler if...'- Sunil Gavaskar proposes drastic T20 rule change
Sunil Gavaskar suggests a rule change for IPL 2026 that could benefit bowlers.
Jonathan Greenard joins the Philadelphia Eagles on a four-year, $100 million contract, potentially offering a better value compared to Jaelan Phillips' $120 million deal with the Panthers. Analysts speculate on Greenard's impact in his first season with the team.

Here's a question, just something that's being thrown out for fodder. Toss this one out in the break room or at the water cooler. Is it possible that, by essentially swapping Jaelan Phillips for Jonathan Greenard, the Philadelphia Eagles landed a better player and did so at a discount?
Both guys got paid, but Phillips' four-year, $120 million contract with the Carolina Panthers is a richer deal than Greenard's four-year, $100 million payday. It is so in both total value and average salary.
Both guys can ball, but many in the know would label Greenard an upgrade if asked. That isn't to say Phillips' efforts during his time with the Eagles weren't appreciated. Most were pleased with Phillips' nine games in Philadelphia (that includes one during the postseason), but now the paradigm shifts.
What might Greenard's first run with his new team look like? Sure, it's too early to make guesses, but that certainly won't stop anyone from offering a few now, will it?
Greenard notched over 900 defensive snaps in 2024. He appeared in all 17 regular-season games but saw the field for only a dozen last season. Physically, he says he's good to go, and by all accounts, we have very little cause not to distrust him. Still, he has only completed a full season once in his career, ao lets set the 'reasonable' bar at 600 snaps or so.
Jonathan Greenard signed a four-year contract worth $100 million with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Many analysts consider Jonathan Greenard an upgrade over Jaelan Phillips, who signed a richer four-year, $120 million contract with the Carolina Panthers.
While it's too early for definitive predictions, there is considerable interest in how Jonathan Greenard will perform in his inaugural season with the Philadelphia Eagles.

When he's healthy, he's among the game's best. Twice in his six-year NFL career, he has exceeded the 15-game threshold. Each time he has done so, he has cranked out 50 tackles or more. That seems a nice barometer for the coming season.
Lofty? Oh, it absolutely is. Jonathan Greenard is capable, though. He notched a dozen sacks or more in hasn't registered eight sacks or more in 2023 and 2024, and he also tallied eight in 2021. Last season was a disappointment, he says. Oh well... Place this one in the 'Go hard or go home' category. He isn't making $25 million on average per season because six sacks are expected.
One must also factor in Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Moro Ojomo, Nolan Smith, Jalyx Hunt, etc. With so many weapons on defense, tallying an average of a sack or so every other contest seems a reasonable request. Toss those hats in for the best season of Greenard's career on the best team he has ever been a member of.
Still, history has shown us that, in Philadelphia, with so many great players on the roster, there will be snubs. Ask Jordan Davis. Greenard will do work, but expect we'll be hearing discussions about a snub when the votes are tallied for next season's Pro Bowl Games.
