NEWCOMERSTOWN â When the athletes took the track and field May 14, fans saw 11 records fall during the 2026 Inter Valley Conference championships.
Six individuals broke records while five schools set new records in relay events.
Tuscarawas Valley junior Carson Hostetler set meet records in the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles.
âI set the record last year and have been running good coming into today,â Hostetler said. âIâve been working on accelerating between hurdles, and everything felt really good through the run.â

Tuscarawas Central Catholicâs senior Elena Price set a record in the 800-meter run and capped off her career by winning the race four straight years.

"I didnât think I would win my freshman year,â Price said. âBut once I did, I wanted to come back and defend my title every year.â
The plan coming in: Start strong and hang on.
âI just trust all the training Iâve done,â she said. âIâve had a lot of hard workouts, and once the race starts thatâs the fun part.â
Tusky Valleyâs 4x400-meter team of Braden Miller, Abe McElwee, Ben Brantley and Cade Conradtook down a record that has stood since 2017.

The momentum swing in the race began when McElwee got the baton.
âHe always gets a crazy lead for us,â Conrad said. âOnce that happens itâs over for other teams.â
McElwee and Co. left it all on the track, even without winning the team title.
âWe have a lot of great guys on this team,â he said. âWeâre always going to run 100 percent, and thatâs what the four of us just did. Thatâs what makes this team so close, no matter what the effort level is always going to be high.â

The IVC championships concluded with Tusky Valleyâs girls team taking first place with 101 points, and Indian Valley's boys were victorious with 125 points.
