One player that Michigan is making some progress with is five-star 2027 CB Joshua Dobson. Dobson was recently on campus for a visit, and now he has the Michigan football team in his top five. Michigan is the only non-SEC school still alive in this recruitment. Earning a commitment from this North Carolina native would be huge for the 2027 recruiting class.
Four-star 2028 LB Brayden Bonik was also in town for a visit recently, as he was on campus in March. He had good things to say about Ann Arbor following his time here. “The town was very nice,” Bonik told *On3’s Ethan McDowell ($)*. “I know the college town was ranked pretty high on some stuff they were showing me when I went to Michigan, and I know the academic side is very good. I had about five people from Ann Arbor tell me about how great the business school is, because that’s what I probably want to major in when I go. And when I graduate from there, the alumni is huge, so I won’t have a problem getting a job.” Michigan players have commented on the differences that they are noticing in practice this year under new head coach Kyle Whittingham, and recruits are commenting on it as well. “I really liked their intensity,” Bonik admitted. “I was surprised. I did hear from somebody, they were saying the intensity is up, surprisingly, because everybody just got there, but they’re instilling a pretty good tradition already.” Speaking of Coach Whittingham, there are a lot of good qualities about him that are standing out to Bonik. “I like his professional look on the game, with him being in the NFL for a long time,” he said. “I like how he coaches, and I like his principles. I feel like I know he’s going to develop me into a NFL-type linebacker with him coaching great guys at the Chiefs. He’s come from a lot of winning there, too.” Bonik is hoping to get back to Ann Arbor in the fall for a game.

Brayden Bonik, a four-star linebacker, praised the town of Ann Arbor and highlighted the strong academic reputation of Michigan's business school during his visit.

An intriguing Michigan target in the 2027 class is three-star safety Diesel Dart, the brother of New York Giants QB Jaxson Dart. He recently spoke about his interest in the program and the connections with the staff. “Obviously, the coaches there that came over from Utah and BYU — their DC, coach Jay Hill, recruited me at BYU and we have a great relationship,” Dart told 247Sports’ Blair Angulo ($). “He gave me an offer at BYU early and when he went to Michigan, he offered me there as well. I’ve known coach Whitt, obviously, for a while, too, but it’s been good to get to know coach Tyler Stockton and I really like him. They have a really good roster and a ton of talent, so I’m excited to see them this season. I’ll get out to the Big House for an official visit.” BYU, Ole Miss and Utah are going to be major contenders here as well.
