“Recruitment is absolutely vital” – Ally McCoist on “horrendous” state of Chelsea
Former striker Ally McCoist has some harsh truths for Chelsea, and much like many pundits are right now, he is spot on.
The former Scotland international was on talkSPORT today speaking about the crisis form at Chelsea right now and in particular, reviewing off the back of the 1-0 defeat to Manchester United on Saturday night.

McCoist says:
“I’m watching that game [Chelsea 0 Man Utd 1] and thinking where are they going to go from here. I looked at the bench and I’m shaking my head. They’ve spent the biggest part of £1.7bn in the last four seasons. Do they look as though they got value for that money? Nothing can be further from the truth.”
He then goes on to say recruitment and no stability is the issue.
“A lot of is it down to the recruitment. They’ve got to be very, very careful in the upcoming months.
“You have got to have a blend in your team of youth and experience, and Chelsea do not have that. Look at the great Chelsea teams – Terry, Drogba, Lampard, Cech, the spine. They’ve not got anywhere near that level of player this moment in time, and they’ve spent an absolute fortune. Recruitment is absolutely vital. Not only have they not got the signings right but they’ve not got the balance of recruitment right.
Ally McCoist stated that recruitment is absolutely vital for Chelsea, highlighting the team's poor performance.
Chelsea lost 1-0 to Manchester United, contributing to the ongoing crisis in their form.
Chelsea is reportedly set for a midfield rebuild, with potential plans to bring in three new players while letting three go.

“The last three or four weeks has been an absolute shambles. It’s been horrendous. They’ve going to have to be extremely careful in the next five weeks because they might not have bottomed out yet your know?”
McCoist is my favourite football pundit for a reason, and he’s hit the nail on the head here and for me, there is no more arguing about it or debating. This has become a fact to me now.
Change the recruitment and they might be able to salvage something at this club. But stick to how it is and they’re in trouble.
Cole Palmer was annoyed with Alejandro Garnacho for switching off at a crucial moment and allowing Man Utd to score on Saturday. A video captured his angry reaction.
And also on Garnacho, a journalist has claimed that whoever signed him at Chelsea should be sacked on the spot, because he’s never been good enough.
