Rivera is a 6-foot-7 left-hander originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico. The A's made him an 11th-round pick in the 2021 MLB Draft.
The Athletics released him in May 2024, but the Red Sox quickly latched onto Rivera, and he has blossomed in the Boston system.
Last season between High-A Greenville and Double-A Portland, Rivera put up a combined 2.48 ERA.
He then had a 3.00 ERA in the Puerto Rican Winter League, and he also pitched for Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic (4.05 ERA in two appearances).
