The Boston Red Sox began the year at a poor 10-17 record, and after a rout over the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday, the Red Sox made a few huge moves.
Obviously, the largest was the decision to fire Alex Cora, their longtime manager, as the beginning of the year was not nearly good enough for the Red Sox brass. But who was the one behind this firing of Cora?
According to Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com, during the press conference after the firing of Cora, Red Sox president and CEO Sam Kennedy revealed who fired Cora, and it wasn't Kennedy himself, but instead Craig Breslow.

While this decision to fire Cora, seemingly as the scapegoat for the struggles this year, might not be a huge surprise with how the season is going, it is noteworthy that Breslow was the one behind the firing.
His roster construction, with the trade of Rafael Devers, Dustin May, and the inability to re-sign Alex Bregman all mistakes he's made in the last year.
The roster construction isn't great, and Breslow is to blame for that. And yet, he's kept his job and was even the one who pushed the envelope to get Cora fired.
It's an interesting revelation from Kennedy, as he's putting the onus of this firing on Breslow. Kennedy went along with the decision, but he made it clear that the decision to fire Cora was recommended by and decided by Breslow.
