The Boston Red Sox should start wearing their Fenway green City Connect uniforms more often.
Since debuting them last year, the Red Sox have won seven games in them. Incredibly, all seven of those victories were walk-offs.
Friday's contest was just the latest instance in that unbelievable trend. Both sides traded zeroes for nine innings as Ranger Suarez and Casey Mize engaged in a good old-fashioned pitching duel.
Boston finally broke through in the 10th inning, prevailing on Masataka Yoshida's walk-off, pinch-hit single.
Yoshida has been red-hot lately despite spending considerable time on the bench, so it's not surprising that he turned out to be the hero for the Red Sox's struggling lineup. Perhaps he'll start earning more playing time as a result.
In the meantime, Boston has plenty to feel good about heading into Saturday's showdown against reigning AL Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal. The Red Sox are coming off back-to-back wins, giving them some momentum that they'll try to capitalize on throughout the rest of the homestand.
