Multiple Boston Red Sox players came out and said that they weren't happy about the decision to move on from skipper Alex Cora.
Red Sox players made it clear early on that they didn't think the front office was doing what was right, whether that meant moving on from him or that nobody was really being told what was going on behind the scenes.
However, members of the front office, especially Craig Breslow, have attempted to quiet that noise and suggested that he's available for the players throughout this entire process.
He understood he had to work on a tight timeline, but now that it's happened, he's ready to speak with anyone about it.
“I think the most important thing, just given the timing and how this all came together, was to get the group together and make sure that they heard from me and then give them a chance to spend some time with Trace (interim manager Chad Tracy),” Breslow said, via MassLive.
“And since then, I’m here on the trip, I’m making myself available,” Breslow added. “I’ve had conversations with a number of players. I’ll keep the content of those in private, but having as many conversations as it takes to be able to look forward and move forward and take advantage of the remainder of the season.”
Breslow clearly wants to fix this season, hoping that the Red Sox can still become at least part of what they were expected to be entering the year. There's a lot of time left, so it's impossible to say that they can't be very good, but oftentimes, moving on from a manager doesn't immediately lead to more success.
The exact reasons for Alex Cora's firing have not been publicly detailed, but it has led to significant backlash from players.
Players expressed their unhappiness with the decision and criticized the front office for not communicating effectively.
