After Sunday's 3-1 loss to the Houston Astros, Willson Contreras and Marcelo Mayer appeared to be at odds over what's causing the Boston Red Sox's offensive struggles.
Contreras called out the team's younger players for not having enough experience to pull out of their slumps, per MassLive's Sean McAdam.
A few minutes later, however, Mayer disagreed.
"To me, that's just kind of an excuse: blame the young guys," Mayer said via McAdam. "I don't think we're doing a good job with runners in scoring position. When you don't do that, you don't score runs."
Those differing quotes appeared to between Contreras and Mayer. Carrabis quickly quashed those rumors, however, saying everything is fine between the two teammates.

"FWIW there’s no beef between Willson Contreras and Marcelo Mayer. The quotes from yesterday painted a different picture than what’s going on behind closed doors. They’re very much on the same page," Carrabis wrote on X on Monday.
That's reassuring, as the last thing the Red Sox need right now is their players fighting with each other.
