The Boston Red Sox had another tough night on Tuesday.
Boston dropped its 11th contest of the season as it lost against the Minnesota Twins for the second straight night. On Tuesday, the Red Sox's offense wasn't able to do anything and the club lost 6-0.
It's a bit worse than that, though. One of Boston's top offensive performers was forced to exit the game on Tuesday in Willson Contreras.
Ian Browne of MLB.comreported on X that Contreras was forced to exit the game due to lower back tightness.
"Low back tightness for Willson Contreras," Browne wrote.
If Contreras needs to miss any time, that would be an absolute disaster for a team that can't afford any less offense right now. Contreras is tied with Wilyer Abreu for the team lead in homers this season with three. He's also just one RBI behind shortstop Trevor Story for the team lead there as well. Story has 12 RBIs, while Contreras has 11.
Contreras' back injury is going to be something to watch over the next few days.
After the game on Tuesday, Red Sox manager Alex Cora had a brief update and noted that the club has to be careful, but they view it as "nothing serious."
So, now we wait. Fortunately, Cora made it sound like the injury isn't anything bad. We should find out more on Wednesday.
