The Boston Red Sox have not had the start many expected, and their offensive struggles are a huge reason why.
The first month of the Red Sox season has featured some slow starts, and most notably, a change in managers. Chad Tracy was brought up from Triple-A to manage the team after Alex Cora was fired. Tracy can make changes, but ultimately, the players need to play better. The Red Sox rank 24th in runs, 29th in home runs, 16th in stolen bases and 28th in OPS. The offense needs to improve, and Kristian Campbell thinks he could help if given the chance.
“Yeah, for sure. I definitely could,” Campbell said confidently, per Boston Sports Journal's Chris Henrique. “I feel like I'm going in the right direction right now. So whenever or if they ever make that decision, I'll be ready. But for right now, I just got to focus on getting ready. So when I do get the opportunity and take it, I don't take it for granted and go do what I can up there at the best of my ability."
Campbell was on the opening day roster last year and looked like a star ten games into his big league career. However, his next 57 games were terrible and he was sent down. Since then, he has moved to the outfield permanently, and the Red Sox are working to fix his offense.

He is hitting .273 in Triple-A this season, but his slugging numbers could still use some work. The Red Sox's outfield already has too many mouths to feed, so Campbell will likely have to wait even longer to get back in the big leagues. He has hit safely in 20 of his last 22 games, hitting .298 in that span.
His offensive numbers are headed in the right direction, and if the offense continues to struggle, Campbell could be worth calling up.
