The Boston Red Sox have promoted pitching prospect Anthony Eyanson to Double-A Portland after a stellar performance at High-A Greenville, where he recorded a 0.44 ERA and a 34-to-3 strikeout-to-walk ratio in five starts.
BOSTON — A year after fast-tracking lefties Connelly Early and Payton Tolle to the majors, the Red Sox have already rewarded one of their top young pitching prospects with a promotion to a new level one month into 2026.
After dominating at High-A Greenville in his first five starts, hard-throwing righty Anthony Eyanson was promoted to Double-A Portland on Sunday, a source confirmed.
Eyanson, a 21-year-old LSU product, was Boston’s third-round pick last year. He logged a 0.44 ERA in five starts for Greenville, allowing one earned run and just seven hits in 20 ⅓ innings. Most impressively, Eyanson worked a 34-to-3 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
Eyanson was ranked Boston’s No. 13 prospect entering the season by Baseball America, falling behind fellow 2025 picks Kyson Witherspoon (No. 4) and Marcus Phillips (No. 9). All three pitchers started the year together but Eyanson pitched the best, earning a promotion first. Witherspoon has struggled to a 7.13 ERA in his first five professional games and Phillips has a 4.22 ERA in limited innings (10 ⅔).
Eyanson has sat in the 95-97 mph range with his fastball so far in 2026. In Portland, he’ll join red-hot shortstop prospect Franklin Arias and fellow pitching prospects John Holobetz, Hayden Mullins and Blake Wehunt.
Anthony Eyanson posted a 0.44 ERA with 34 strikeouts and only 3 walks in 20.1 innings at High-A Greenville.
Eyanson was promoted due to his dominant performance, including a low ERA and impressive strikeout-to-walk ratio, making him the top-performing pitcher among his peers.
Anthony Eyanson is ranked as the No. 13 prospect in the Red Sox organization according to Baseball America.
