The Boston Red Sox are not off to the start that fans wanted and expected, but there are things going on in the minor leagues that should get fans excited.
The Red Sox are 6-4 in their last 10 games, and things could be starting to turn around. Regardless of when things get going in the right direction, the Red Sox will be looking to see if some of their prospects are ready to contribute to the big league team. One of those prospects is Kristian Campbell.
Campbell made the opening day roster last season, but was sent down after an extended slump. He was hitting .364 with a 1.143 OPS through 10 games in the big leagues last season. He signed an extension and looked to be a key part of the team moving forward. However, he hit below .200 in his next 57 games. His defense was also poor, and he has since been moved to the outfield.
He is starting to swing the bat better in Triple-A and homered off Yankees all-Star Carlos Rodón on Tuesday night.
Rodón was making a rehab start in Triple-A as he looks to get back in the big leagues following elbow surgery last October. He was one of the best pitchers in baseball last season, and Campbell was able to take him deep. It's a good sign for Campbell, who is hoping to make an impact in the big leagues again.

Campbell is slashing .291/.397/.398 in 28 games this season. The hardest part of getting back in the big leagues for him will be positional need. The Red Sox outfield was already overpopulated, and adding a sixth player is not a good idea. Roman Anthony is currently day-to-day, and if he needs to go on the injured list, Campbell could be an option.
