The Boston Red Sox had Kristian Campbell on the opening day roster last year, but sent him down after an extended slump, and he has been trying to get back into the big leagues ever since.

Campbell was hitting .364 with a 1.143 OPS through 10 games in the big leagues last season. He signed an extension and looked to be a key part of the team moving forward. However, he hit below .200 in his next 57 games and his defense was not very good. The Red Sox have now moved him to the outfield and have focused on fixing his offense.

Campbell is hitting .273 in Triple-A this season and has a .729 OPS. There are signs of improvement, and Campbell spoke on where he is offensively.

“Offensively, I'm in a good spot,” Campbell said, per Boston Sports Journal's Chris Henrique. “I've been working on some things in the cage and stuff. I feel like I'm in a good spot offensively. I've seen the ball well, working on some new adjustments I made in the offseason, and everything's going smooth so far, so I feel good.”

Campbell has lowered his hands from last year and is looking more comfortable at the plate. It's worth noting that before the Red Sox brought him to the big leagues, he had only played in 19 Triple-A games. He was rushed to the big leagues, and it's not a shock that he needs more time in Triple-A.
