The Boston Red Sox decided to fire Alex Cora and some members of his coaching staff, and Trevor Story was among the players who criticised the move.
On Sunday, Story told reporters that he felt the coaches who were fired, including Cora, did not get a fair shot. wrote The Athletic's Spencer Nusbaum. He also told reporters that he wanted to speak to Craig Breslow personally to share his thoughts and clear the air. Well, it seems like he got the opportunity to do that and shared his thoughts on their conversation with the media.
âIt was definitely necessary as part of the process,â Story said of his talks with Breslow, per The Boston Globe's Tim Healey. âObviously, you heard the things I said and I didnât agree with it, but we hashed it out and we had a very constructive conversation.

âWhether I agree with it or not doesnât really matter. I donât make those decisions. He heard me out and he was very understanding, because he knew how beloved those guys were and they always will be. So I think it was good to start the process of moving forward, I guess.â
The Red Sox have no choice but to move on, and they have yet to lose with Chad Tracy as the manager. The team has won three straight, dating back to Cora's final game with the team, which was a 17-1 win over the Baltimore Orioles. While the team is winning, Story acknowledged that moving on is not easy.
â[The firings are] still pretty fresh,â Story said after Monday's game. âWeâre just trying to make the best of our situation, I think is the best way to put it. We got a lot of new faces, obviously some new leadership. Weâre just trying to embrace it and be present in the moment and just go out there and compete and play ball, I think has been kind of the message. Thatâs it.â
