Acute Boston Red Sox fans who have been paying attention to the team's minor league system are already very familiar with middle infielder Franklin Arias.

Arias has played 23 games this season for the Double-A Portland Sea Dogs. In those 23 games, he has posted a near-league-best .346 batting average. He has hits on 28 of his 81 at-bats, including five doubles and eight home runs. Arias has an OPS of 1.129 and has batted in 20 runs.

He also has a knack for clutch hitting, as his multiple walk-offs have made their way onto highlight pages everywhere.

Even the proudest prospect ranking organization, Baseball America, has taken notice of Arias' meteoric rise.

In May's edition of Major League Baseball's top-100 prospects, the Sea Dogs' shortstop was one of the biggest risers.

Arias, who was ranked 50th previously, jumped 34 spots all the way to No. 16.

Other Red Sox prospects on the list include, of course, starting pitcher Payton Tolle at No. 8, 2025 draft pick Anthony Eyanson at No. 48 and another pitcher drafted in 2025, Kyson Witherspoon, at No. 73.

With Chad Tracy now managing the Red Sox, I would not be surprised if he turned to a few younger prospects to fill holes on Boston's roster, especially if the injury bug bites.

Arias is the hottest name in the farm system right now, but the Red Sox's middle infield is already over-manned. Still, it will be interesting to see if he can keep up this mind-blowing pace in month two of the minor league season.
