Think the Reds have had troubles to start the month of May? Try the independent Florence Ya'lls of the Frontier League, who began their season in Evansville to face the Otters.
On May 7, the Reds lost to the Chicago Cubs 8-3 to wrap up an 0-7 road trip while starter Rhett Lowder left with an injury.
Then, the Y'alls were no-hit in a 5-0 loss at Evansville in their season opener.
The Reds losing streak reached eight before they beat the Astros on Saturday, May 9. But things didn't go well for the Ya'lls in their second and third games at Evansville.
In Game 2, the Ya'lls rallied from a 5-0 hole to force extra innings, only to lose 7-6 to the Otters on a walk-off hit in the 10th.
In Game 3, the Ya'lls led 8-2, and 9-7 entering the ninth inning, but Evansville walked it off again for a 10-9 victory.
The Ya'lls series was the first under manager Toby Hall. Hall was a big league catcher who spent nine seasons from 2000 to 2008 with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Chicago White Sox.
The Y'alls return for the home opener on May 12 against the Mississippi Mud Monsters. The first 1,000 fans will get a clear bag giveaway. The game is the first of a six-game homestand.
