Baseball
Redwood 7, Clovis 1: The 11th-ranked Rangers (19-10) upset the sixth-seed Cougars (18-12) in their Central Section Division I road playoff opener.
Redwood, coming off its fifth straight league championship, will return home to host No. 14 Centennial (15-14-1) on May 19 for a quarterfinal showdown at Aaron Hill Field.
Tulare Western 9, San Luis Obispo 2: The West Yosemite League co-champion Mustangs (19-9-1) opened the Central Section Division II playoffs with a first-round road win, upsetting the No. 7 Tigers (18-11).
No. 10 Tulare Western will host 15th-ranked Hanford (13-15), who beat No. 2 Ridgeview 7-1 in its playoff opener, on May 19 in the quarterfinals at Taylor Field in Tulare.

Softball
Redwood 10, Paso Robles 0: The No. 3 Rangers (22-7) made quick work of the 14th-ranked Bearcats (17-12), winning via mercy rule in six innings.
Redwood's Emily Webster hit a home run and finished with two hits, four RBIs, and a run. Jackie Ramirez knocked in two runs, and Kenzie Cantu, Kyrie Rodriguez, Aubrie Jenkins and Jaden Lopez all had an RBI.
Redwood won the playoff game against Clovis with a score of 7-1.
Redwood was the 11th-ranked team in the Central Section Division I playoffs.
Redwood baseball upset the 6th-seed Clovis Cougars in the playoffs.
As of May 15, the Redwood baseball team has a record of 19-10.

Baseball
Dinuba 11, Mission Oak 10: Ethyn Lizaola went 3-for-4, including a triple, with three RBIs as the Emperors outlasted the Hawks in both team's West Yosemite League finale.
Lizaola got the win on the mound, too, hurling three strikeouts in 2 1/3 innings.
Also for Dinuba, Daniel Aranzazu blasted a two-run double. Ayden Montelongo. Deangelo Correa, and Boysie Campo each finished with an RBI.
Mission Oak's Eddie Bravo had a memorable regular-season finale, blasting three hits, one of them a home run, to finish with five RBIs and two runs scored.
Swim and dive
Central Section Division I Championships: Caiden LaPoint, a Tulare Union junior, had a strong showing at the section finale at Clovis West.
LaPoint finished seventh in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 47.10 seconds. He also came in sixth in a 100-yard backstroke at 52.48 seconds. Both marks are now school records in those respective events.
Track and field
East Yosemite League Championships: Redwood won the EYL boys and girls team championships at the conference finale at Rankin Stadium in Porterville.
The Redwood boys scored 214.5 points to top the competition.
The Rangers received individual first-place performances in the boys' events from Troy Harris (400 meters), Wyatt Ruby (110-meter hurdles), Luke Sanchez (300-meter hurdles), Landon Everett (high jump), and Austin Alcantara (long jump, triple jump).
On the girls' side, Redwood came in first with 169 points with individual gold-medal showings from Tori Ochoa (100 meters), Graycie Serpa (200 and 400 meters), Jordan Powell (shot put), Haven Rawson (high jump), Mia LoBue (pole vault), and Brynne Amundson (triple jump).
