Relief for Ancelotti! Alisson close to playing for Liverpool again

Alisson trained again with Liverpool and is very close to returning to action.

According to Arne Slot, the goalkeeper trained normally once again and could even play this Friday (15) against Aston Villa in the penultimate round of the Premier League, but the decision will only be made on matchday.

The news was confirmed by the English club’s manager, Arne Slot, in a press conference held on Thursday morning (14).

"Alisson trained with us again. We’ll see tomorrow whether he is ready to play [against Aston Villa] or whether he will have to wait another week," said Arne Slot.

The goalkeeper has not played since March 18, when he suffered a hamstring injury in his right thigh.

The recovery of the No. 1 is the best possible news for Carlo Ancelotti on the eve of the final squad announcement.

Alisson is on the CBF’s list of main medical concerns, and his absence from Liverpool’s last few matches raised doubts about whether he would be physically fit to play in the World Cup.

As the final list of 26 called-up players will be announced next Monday (18), his return to training all but confirms the goalkeeper’s presence at the event at the Museum of Tomorrow.

If Alisson is rested against Aston Villa, the expectation is that he will play in the final round of the Premier League, scheduled for May 24.

This means he will arrive at Granja Comary on the 27th with match fitness and fully recovered.

Alisson is considered a key piece in Ancelotti’s setup and one of the squad’s main leaders as it seeks a sixth world title in North America starting in June.

At 33, Alisson, who came through at Internacional, is in advanced talks to swap Liverpool for Juventus of Italy, according to reports in the European press.
