Report – Inter Milan Renew Interest In Unsettled Liverpool Defender
Serie A giants Inter Milan have reportedly rekindled their interest in unsettled Liverpool starlet Giovanni Leoni.
According to Corriere dello Sport via FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri could make a new attempt to sign the Italian defender this summer.
Inter had tried to lure Giovanni Leoni to San Siro last summer but to no avail.
Indeed, Liverpool won the race for the 19-year-old’s signature, forking out around €30 million to strike a deal with Parma.
Furthermore, the teenage center-back has signed a multi-year contract at Anfield, pledging his future to the Reds until 2031.
However, Leoni could return to Serie A sooner than expected.
Marred by a long-term knee injury, Leoni has failed to make a single Premier League appearance this season.
Indeed, the youngster has registered just one EFL Cup start for Arne Slot’s side, and Liverpool are now open to selling the former Parma star.
Despite Leoni’s lengthy injury layoff, Cristian Chivu, who launched the center-back’s career in Emilia-Romagna, is ready to bring him back to Italy.
In addition to Leoni, Inter are also keeping close tabs on Udinese defender Oumar Solet.
Still, the Frenchman’s substantial €30 million price tag could represent a stumbling block.
Inter Milan is interested in Giovanni Leoni due to his unsettled status at Liverpool and their need for defensive reinforcements.
