Report: Liverpool have turned their attention to £43m forward
Liverpool are monitoring Monaco winger Maghnes Akliouche as they assess options to reshape their attack this summer, with L’Equipe reporting that the France international is expected to leave the Ligue 1 club.
Akliouche, 24, is primarily a right sided forward who plays off his stronger left foot. He has produced seven goals and 11 assists in all competitions this season and is understood to be valued at around €50million, approximately £43million.
Liverpool’s interest comes amid uncertainty around Cody Gakpo, whose future at Anfield is increasingly open to question. The Netherlands international has endured a difficult campaign and has struggled to form an effective partnership with Milos Kerkez on the left flank.
Maghnes Akliouche currently plays for Monaco as a winger.
Liverpool is reportedly considering a transfer fee of around £43 million for Maghnes Akliouche.
This season, Akliouche has scored seven goals and provided 11 assists in all competitions.

Gakpo’s reported £250,000 per week salary is also relevant as Liverpool consider how best to manage their wage bill while refreshing the squad. A sale would create both financial and tactical room for new attacking additions.
L’Equipe claim Liverpool are not put off by Akliouche’s price tag, while the player is described as being ‘almost certain’ to change clubs this summer.
The Anfield club are expected to target more than one wide player, with RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande also identified as a key option. Bradley Barcola is admired, while links to Anthony Gordon have cooled and Jarrod Bowen has also been mentioned elsewhere.
From a Liverpool supporter’s perspective, Akliouche feels like the sort of name that deserves attention. He may not carry the same Premier League familiarity as Gordon or Bowen, but the profile is clear. Left footed, right sided, creative, productive and still developing.
The Gakpo situation is central. There is still a player there, but the fit has looked increasingly awkward. If Liverpool can move him on, reduce the wage bill and reinvest in someone more explosive and unpredictable, it would feel like a logical step.
Akliouche would not be a direct replacement for Mohamed Salah in stature or output, but he could be part of a broader attacking reset. At £43m, the fee is not small, yet in today’s market it may prove smart business if Liverpool believe his ceiling is high enough.
