Chelsea is reportedly considering another bid for goalkeeper Mike Maignan, despite his recent contract extension with Milan. This comes just five months after Maignan signed a new deal with the Rossoneri.
Report Maignan could be targeted by Chelsea again despite new Milan deal
Just five months on from signing his new contract with Milan, Mike Maignan is back in the news with speculation Chelsea are ready to make another offer for the goalkeeper.
He had seemed to be on the verge of an exit last year, when his contract was running down and he was set to become available as a free agent.
Chelsea were the favourites then and had reportedly agreed personal terms, but the Rossoneri rejected the proposal and were proved right, able to negotiate an extension.

That was signed in January 2026 and will run to June 2031, so it looked as if his career choice had been made to stick it out at San Siro.
Chelsea is reportedly looking to strengthen their goalkeeper position, and Maignan's previous availability made him a target.
Maignan signed a new contract with Milan just five months ago, extending his commitment to the club.
Chelsea had agreed on personal terms with Maignan last year, but Milan rejected their proposal, leading to Maignan's contract extension.

However, now La Gazzetta dello Sport claim that Chelsea have not given up on their hopes of securing the France international and are ready to give it another go this summer.
The key could be the current chaos behind the scenes, where coach Max Allegri and director of sport Igli Tare are reconsidering their own positions.
Allegri was reportedly instrumental in convincing Maignan to stay, so the departure of the tactician after just one year could prompt a reconsideration.
At least now Milan would be able to command significantly more on the transfer market for the shot-stopper, who turns 31 this summer and will start for France at the 2026 World Cup.
